We had a great dinner here yesterday. I am still thinking about that guacamole and the sope appetizer- they were delicious! My main entree was the carne asada and it was juicy and flavorful. The staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely will be back!Maria Luz
Pollo en Mole Negro w/ garlic mashed Potatoes. The Best, by far, pollo en mole that I’ve ever had.rchardkliu
This place is hands down amazing. It’s 5 star affordable dining… Wait Staff friendly and attentive. Food is easily the top Mexican in Chicago! Ceviche is super fresh, camarones are delicatable, and you won’t find a better carne asada dish cooked medium rare!!!!! If you don’t come here, you are not eating great Mexican!!!!Andrew S.
So excited for the hood! This place is fabulous! The food was delicious! We started out with the ceviche: so fresh and flavorful! We had the chicken mole with garlic mashed potatoes…perfection! Chicken is super tender and the potatoes are a perfect mix of mash/ little potato pieces with just the right amount of garlic. And the mole…incredible!!
The carne asada was suburb as well. We topped off the night with the mango ice cream. It was an unexpected mix of savory and sweet. Another plus is it’s a BYOB!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the service was a bit slow, but there were a few big parties. Hopefully this is just a kink that will get worked out in the near future! Can’t wait to go back!!Amy G.
Simply tremendous. My wife and I dropped in for a quick bite before heading to an event downtown. We arrived around 6:25 on a Tuesday without a reservation – seated immediately. The wait staff and front of house were wonderful. Our waitress let me know that the black mole chicken would take 25 minutes to cook, which was good to know, as we were in a hurry – I went with her recommendation of the carne asada instead. While not normally a fan, this steak was unbelievable – perfect at medium rare. My wife had both the ceviche and camarones. All was delicious. Can’t wait to return for the chicken!PJ S.
We LOVED our first meal at Ixcateco Grill. The pork loin – with its amazing sauce – was outstandin
Holy mole….I’m so excited that we have this restaurant in my very own neighborhood! Everything we had was excellent, from the salsa to the goats milk ice cream, and was made with quality ingredients. We also had the ceviche, chicken mole and carne asada and all were superb. It was probably the best mole I’ve ever had in my life. Service was great, and the price point is an exceptional value for the quality of food you get. There is an adorable older gentleman who runs the front of the house, and although this place is BYOB, he opens your wine bottle for you and pours you your first glass. There is something about that which makes this restaurant’s service stand out against other places. Is it too soon to go back today?Jennifer L.
Delicious, flavorful food. We enjoyed everything we tried. Really great staff – will definitely be back!Cheryl B.
Wednesday night never felt so good. I was excited to visit this new restaurant and was not disappointed. From the start we were met warmly and seated quickly. The waiter was new but very helpful and answered our questions. We tried the Picaditas and Guacamole. The taste was great and much better the same items at other Mexican Restaurants I’ve visited and that’s a lot of places. The entrees arrived right on time. The Carne Asada was perfectly cooked very delicious. The waiter suggested we get it medium rare for best taste. The Chicken in Mole was scrumptious and we were alerted that it would take 25 minutes. Also the fact that they offer mole is a great opportunity to savor this time intensive complex sauce. This small touch was appreciated so we would not be surprised. The water and chips were constantly replenished. I cannot say anything bad about Ixcateco Grill. From start to the time we left we were not only presented excellent food but the customer service was great. Even when leaving several staff thanked up for coming and the host shook our hands. I recommend you visit soon. It’s BYOB but also have Soft Drinks.Sam P.
